There are many signs to signal summer's arrival...school's out, the days are longer and warmer, people are posting vacation pictures.
And the church summer party is being planned.
If you are a regular in a congregation, you no doubt recognized the dreaded sign-up sheet that's passed from pew to pew in anticipation of the big event.
Yesterday is when the printed sheet, as of yet untouched by anxious church members, was sent on its journey, its mission--to be completely filled out by the time the fifty-minute meeting's conclusion. Of course, I smiled when I saw the Jello Salad category, and was even a little surprised it didn't say Green Jello Salad, for it very well could have.
These parties are small miracles. It takes a lot of planning (in fact, the more planning, the better the party usually turns out...). A group is called to be on a planning committee, and then, they ask for help. And the miracle is, the help arrives, and the party is a success.
Yes, it must be summer. Schools out, the days are longer and warmer, people are posting vacation pictures. And I'm happy to say, when the meeting was finished, every slot on not only the top page, but the page underneath, was filled out.
Sounds like another successful church party is well on its way.
