Eve Nicholson's "The Tripartite Soul"...A Book Review

Today I finished a book written by a good friend. This is one book I should have finished sooner. The book, The Tripartite Soul, is best categorized as a fantasy romance. Now, I haven't read a lot of books in this genre, but good storytelling is good storytelling.

In The Tripartite Soul we meet a servant girl--Eviona, a soldier--Dyre, and a dragon--Zefforah, three beings that have a unique connection. They can see, feel, taste, touch the things each other sees, feels, tastes, and touches. They also have an ability to stop this connection, which is a good thing (the thought of sharing every sense with others can be a little unsettling...). The story is told through the voice of Eviona, a servant girl who experiences the trials and joys of her first love, love lost, and love renewed. Eviona has special skills--among other things, she can bake and she's good with a sword.

Nicholson creates a fantastical world where you never know what's going to happen. Eviona's search for not only love, but understanding in a reality that's not solely her own. I've never read a book like this and I loved thinking about all the possibilities these characters could experience.

The Tripartite Soul is a romance, is a fantasy, is even a philosophical study on how we make choices, and more importantly perhaps, why we make those choices. If you'd like to read it, click: HERE to access Nicholson's Amazon page. This book is unlike anything I've read before. Chances are, if you read it, you'll feel the same way, too.

Beginning A New Book Is Great...Knowing The Author Makes It Even Better

I began a new book today. It's a book I've been meaning to start for some time. Turns out, today was that day.

Because of other crazy stuff going on in my life, I'm not going through books like I used to. Back in the day I was finishing an audiobook or two every week, and reading a non-digital book about every week or two. But with re-learning the job I have now, plus the other job and the play, my reading has suffered.

I miss it. I miss the stories. I miss the characters. I miss allowing my mind to become lost in another world. There's an excitement that comes with beginning a new book--a chance to experience all those things that only a new book can provide.

And in addition to the joy of a new book, there's something that makes it even better and that is reading a book written by someone you know. Somehow, each word, each sentence means more. I notice differently the phrasing, the choices made.

I'll be writing a review of my friend's book as soon as I finish it. I love reviewing my friend's books. Thankfully, I've gotten to know so many authors, I may never finish them all. I'm a very lucky fellow.

Just Bought A Book...Eve Nicholson's "The Tripartite Soul!"

We got the news a few months ago--our friend Eve Nicholson published her book, The Tripartite Soul. You can pick up your own copy: HERE. We bought it, or I should say, my wife bought it. And what I mean by that is, technically we bought it, but it ended up on my wife's Kindle.

I thought, "no big deal--I'll just read it when I get a chance...you know, like on Sundays when I have access to her Kindle."

The problem was, I never picked it up and began reading. So today I decided to buy my own copy and download it on my own device.

Eve has been best friends with my wife forever. And if they lived closer, I would like to think the Taylors and the Nicholsons would party more than the once-per-decade schedule we've been keeping. Maybe one day we'll rectify that issue, but as our kids grow and need some stability in their lives, living far apart will just have to do.

Personally, I'm very excited to start reading this book. I've got a crazy week coming up, but I'm hoping life calms down in September (I really hate typing this because of the "jinx factor" that's naturally built in when one says such things...). Oh well--I'll risk it.

Completing a novel is tough. I've been trying to crank out a presentable one for many years. It is no small task. I mean, the hours just getting the words down is tough, not to mention the bouts of soul-crushing doubt and feelings of inadequacy. I don't know an author who hasn't at one time or another, believes he or she is a complete fraud.

But I digress. Congratulations Eve on your amazing accomplishment! I look forward to getting lost in your words.
