A Tale Of Two Perspectives...

If there's one topic I do not cover on this blog it's politics. I've read that I could probably get more visitors and more traffic to my blog if I did get political, and especially if I chose a side and with passion, expressed my opinion. But then there's the as passionate responses from the other side of the argument chiming in. I never wanted this blog to have that feel. It's not its purpose.

So, that's not what I'm going to do with this particular post. In fact the reason I'm bringing up the topic at all is because of two things I saw yesterday while on Facebook. Two perspectives.

I have a friend who wrote about the incredible savings is family will now enjoy because of Obamacare, or its correct name, the Affordable Care Act. By his calculation, his family's coverage will go from $950/mth to $444/mth. In his words, the act "works perfectly."

Of course, every coin has two sides. A popular post that's gone viral is from the blogger Matt Walsh and his post titled: The Definitive Guide to How Obamacare is Destroying American Lives. Walsh had an idea. He asked for stories of how the new law has affected Americans. He then posted some of these stories on his blog. Needless to say, to these people Obamacare is anything but "perfect." Here's the link to Walsh's post if you're interested: Matt Walsh Blog.

Will it work? Only time will tell. I have my own opinions. Using past history as a guide and my almost 48 years on this earth watching and studying human behavior, I'm pretty sure I know how this will all turn out. Buckle up, folks! It's going to be a bumpy ride!

End Of The Day; End Of The World...

After an eleven-hour work day I came home and took a few pictures of tonight's sunset. It was another beautiful sunset, one created to be captured forever as digital images and as memories for those who happened to look west just after dusk.

It was a strange day. I'm one of those people who work directly with the changes that took place today. Fortunately, I was not furloughed. In fact, had the government not taken the actions it took today, I would be doing something different for work. The day was not crazy, as I suspected it might be, and things went well.

Occasionally at work I'll check in on social media and the responses to the events of the day made me sick. People who consider themselves educated spewed unfounded statements based on things other people said, not on truth or researched information. And the greatest travesty of this entire fiasco is that both political parties want this to happen. They're using our rage to their benefit. Just my opinion, of course. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

So, I'm done venting. There's more I could write, but why? When facts and historical evidence won't change opinions, what's a simple blog post supposed to accomplish? But what I can do is share some photos of another incredible sunset, also as if it's a message from God telling us stupid humans that no matter what mistakes we're making, He's still there creating beauty and letting us know that Father knows best. Oh, What Do You Do When It's Overtime...

This week we've been "encouraged" to work overtime. We all knew it was coming. When we signed on to work this assignment, we knew working more than the traditional 40-hours a week would one day arrive. It's now here.

Others have put in so many hours these last two weeks. Not me. I took time off last weekend to attend a little get-together with 80,000 other people of similar interests. This week, it's time to get to work. 

We have several deadlines coming up--the first big deadline arrives in seventeen days. On October 1, 2013 people will be able, for the first time, to apply for the Affordable Care Act, or as everyone knows it...Obamacare. We've got a lot of work to do before that day arrives.

Some turn to energy drinks to get them through the day, others coffee. I drink neither. I have been known to purchase a caffeinated cola now and then. I used to drink it everyday. Back in grad school I felt I had to have my "fix" or I wouldn't get through those long days. Turns out I was just as tired when I stopped drinking Pepsis and Cokes as I was when I drank them, so I stopped.

For the next six months or so, we're going to be busy. I just hope we can get it all done. And I hope I can do it without too much liquid help.
