Taking A Little Afternoon Walk...

I had to run an errand this afternoon. It wasn't far--normally, I'd hop in Donk the Subaru and drive over, but today, I thought I'd go for a walk.

What a beautiful day for a walk.

Since I began my career, I worked in offices, except for the past couple of years when I've telecommuted. Don't get me wrong--I LOVE working at home. I highly recommend it. But, when I worked in an office, I used to take public transportation and I'd take breaks as much as I could. In short, I was more mobile. Now, my commute is me walking from one floor to the next.

I have some exercise equipment close by and I try to use it, but I don't work out as much as I should. I keep thinking I should go outside and just walk around. For the past couple of months, I can use the excuse that it's too cold outside, but as the temperatures rise, I hope to take more breaks out of doors.

I only snapped a couple of pictures today. Just walking, I wasn't focused on taking pictures. It's not that there's a lack of things to see. I've lived in the same neighborhood most of my life, more than four decades. Much has changed and there'll be more changes. Homes being renovated and even a couple of new houses going up.

Yes, it will be a goal for me to get outside more. And if I do, I'll be sure to snap some pictures.

Photowalk Around The Block...

Tonight was one of those nights when the outside begs you to leave the four walls, floor, and ceiling that surround you and enter a world of earth and sky. It was beautiful outside so we decided to take a walk around our cul-de-sac street.

I also decided to bring along my camera.

The walk became a photowalk.

I anticipated seeing brilliant flowers and hopefully, equally stunning skies. I also anticipated our cat coming along on the walk with my wife and me. I did not anticipate a couple of girls on bikes seeing the cat and making him their best friend. I thought our cat would run away terrified from them, but he stayed and made their evening even more fun.

I walked up the driveway that used to by mine and said "hello" to our neighbor's aging Weimaraner--sweet, sweet dog. And our tour ended with incredible views of a cloud-filled late spring sky. We are so blessed to live where we do. Yes, we don't have ocean beaches or dance clubs that are open all night, or European cities with centuries-old buildings, but to me, our little lot at the end of our cul-de-sac is heaven.

Walk Around The Block...

In an attempt to get off my backside, I've been doing some walking. Of course, now's really not the time to do walking because of the melt-your-skin heat from above and soul-killing heat reflecting off the black streets below. I now know how a piece of toast feels.

But, last weekend, when the temperature outside wasn't at the death stage, I decided to take a walk. I saw some things, as I'm wont to do. And I also took pictures while I wandered, as I'm also wont to do. I used one picture for my "Pic Of The Day." It got a lot of response on social media.

When I ventured out, I didn't know what I'd see. I didn't think I'd see a government-issued insect trap. That was new. I did spot a couple of homes for sale, so if' you're interested in moving to our little community, here's one house for sale on the smaller side.

And another house for sale a little big larger. I've been in neither, so I can't tell you what they're like inside. But if you look online, I'm sure they're both listed.

When I drive early in the mornings on the weekends, I see a lot of people running or riding bikes. I don't see as many walkers, though. I wonder why. Then again, if the purpose of going outside among the insects and pollen is to get into shape (and the heat later in the day...), running and riding bikes probably gets you quicker results. But if you want to get a little exercise and see the interesting things all around you, a walk might just be the thing.
