Jared Nathan Garrett's "The Seer"...A Book Review

Do you believe in magic, and by magic, I mean...Biblical?

If you do or even if you don't, you will find plenty of magic in Jared Nathan Garrett's The Seer

We first meet Nathan Eckhoff on an archeological dig in Egypt where, after weather and construction destroys the site where the crew are working, Nathan comes into possession of an ancient artifact--a cloak belonging to Joseph of Egypt, the same Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers, the same Joesph who saved the kingdom after interpreting Pharaoh's dreams.

Nathan leaves Africa and returns to his home in San Francisco. Only then does he not only realize he has the cloak, but also its former owner. Before he decides what should be done with the artifact, he finds out this is no ordinary garment. It possesses special powers, powers that not only keep Nathan from harm, but also puts him into dangerous situations including several assassination attempts.

The story is fast-paced, exciting, and full of unexpected twists with a conclusion that mingles intrigue, danger, and a dash of romance. The fun is trying to figure out--as does Nathan--just what powers the cloak has. Will Nathan figure it out as well? Will the baddies get to it before Nathan can escape?

If you like stories with a touch of the supernatural (especially relating to a Biblical story...), check out Jared Nathan Garett's The Seer. You can access the Amazon page by clicking: HERE. A fun read.

How To Prepare Æbleskiver Leftovers…

We made too many…it’s a curse, really, when you’re making Danish pancakes, or æbleskiver (that’s the plural, not æbleskivers…). In our house, we make as many as we can, make them until the batter runs out. The good and bad about æbleskiver is that they look so small that you could eat dozens. After a while, you realize…

It’s not meant to be.

So, we gathered the uneaten balls of deliciousness and put them in the fridge.

Last year our son bought us an air fryer…a good air fryer. We were air fryer virgins before that, didn’t know what they were good at making. After the gift was given, we went out and bought all sorts of food, frozen French fires (of course…), egg rolls, hash browns. Some things the air fryer worked swimmingly, but, as with most things, it wasn’t perfect for all occasions.

After the æbleskiver had sat in the fridge for a few days, I decided to see if the air fryer was the right appliance to bring the chilled Danish pancakes back to life. I threw in half a dozen, hit four minutes on high heat and hit the button, hoping for the best.

The best is what I got.

They tasted great, almost a great as when they were freshly baked. Again, not perfect, but pretty darn close.

So, if you “accidentally” make too many æbleskiver the next time you find yourself making æbleskiver, throw the extra in the fridge and pull out the air fryer. Serve them up with your favorite toppings and you’re in for a good æbleskiver any time.

Værsgo!

So Good...Wanted More

We got an advert in the mail a few weeks before the event. I decided I'd like to go check out the open house at the Utah State University extension at our local town.

I waited until the day of the event, then I forgot all about it. I forgot about it until a few minutes before it ended. I raced to the building only a few miles from my house, parked the car, and ran in.

There I met Dave (I think I'm remembering that correctly...). Being somewhat new to the area, I wanted to know about maybe taking a class, or even better, teaching a class at their extension. We chatted for a while and we discussed the options. I have no idea if things will work out. I'd like to think that if things are meant to be, they'll happen, so we'll see if anything does happen.

The night of the open house, I noticed they had pizza for the attendees. They asked if I wanted any. I declined--my wife was at that moment bringing home dinner for us. But, and this caught my attention, Dave asked, "Would you like some Aggie Ice Cream?"

Uh...yeah!

I hadn't had Aggie Ice Cream since I attended USU in the fall of 1984. That's a long time between treats. As we age, we forget things. I forgot what I ordered the last time I ate the ice cream, but I remembered it was good.

I told Dave I would like some so he went to the fridge and and got one.

"Here you go," he said and handed me the ice cream. I took it home and after dinner, I indulged. I had True Aggie Night which contains vanilla ice cream swirled with raspberry ad dark chocolate raspberry-filled hearts.

It was delicious...if only the container were bigger. Can't complain too much, it was free.
