What A Beautiful Day To Get Married...

If you're familiar with Logan Utah in Cache Valley, you know it can be a volatile place in October when it comes to the weather. Many many years ago I lived in Logan from September to December, and I'll never forget walking up the hill to Old Main in December and having winds scream out of Logan Canyon--the cold went right through you, no matter what you were wearing. It was, and probably still is, one of the coldest places on earth.

So, when my son and his fiancee scheduled their wedding in October and we found out it was to be in the Logan Temple, well, you never know what kind of a day it would turn out to be.

Turns out, this year anyway, the day was beautiful.

We had some time so we took a tour around the building. I couldn't get enough of the incredible sky. A storm did blow through a day or two earlier which cleared the air. It was almost as if the storm was sent specifically to give us that sky. Add the temple to that blue and white and you've really got something.

I have no idea if next year it will be as amazingly stunning--weather wise--as it was on September 13th of this year. There's a good chance it could be snowing.

But, if you know anything about Logan Utah in Cache Valley, the snowstorms themselves, can be heavenly.

So...Is This A New Dance Craze?

Last Friday night at my son's wedding reception, as the craziness raged around me, I spotted a group of youth engaged in a dance. I've included the video in this post.

It reminded me of days long past.

I'm no dancer. I mean, I do dance, but it's not something I excel at. In college I found a group of friends who, like me, maybe weren't the best dancers, but we enjoyed it. We went to various dance clubs in the Salt Lake Valley, and we hit many stake dances. Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, there weren't too many dance crazes. Sure, there was the "Hokey Pokey" and everyone's favorite "Conga Line" so I wasn't sure if what we saw was a new craze or just an impromptu happening.

So, I present you part of a dance that happened on a Friday night in Brigham City, Utah. You be the judge.

Enjoy!

It's Wedding Week...

In many parts of the world, having a son get married at twenty-five is unusual--for some, it's because that's young to get married--for others, it's because twenty-five is old to be getting married.

We live in a society of the latter.

Or, at least, we used to. It seems there are fewer and fewer marriages nowadays. Maybe it's because there's fewer and fewer kids. That makes sense.

But, for our two families, it's wedding week.

The big day - Friday.

Are we ready? Probably not.

We're still digging out from a mountain of cardboard boxes. We knew things were going to be crazy in October. When we decided to move and Knight and Anne decided to get married, we knew we were in for some insane times. We figured, after the move we'd have time to concentrate on the wedding. We do, but it feels like it's not enough.

We're new to the whole wedding thing. I'm grateful we have an understanding son and his fiancee. At least, I think they've been understanding. They haven't complained at all. That's a blessing. Friday will arrive. We'll try and do everything that needs doing. I'm sure we'll miss some things--that always happens. Let's just hope they're not big things.

Yes, it's Wedding Week. A first for us. Here's to another new adventure!
