What Really Is The Best Pizza Deal...?

With certain things, I'm what some call frugal, or what others call cheap. Personally, I don't mind either title. Hopefully, my kids will carry on the tradition. It's good to appreciate the value of things.

Looking for clothes at thrift stores is one example of my frugalness (or cheapness...). Getting the most out of a meal, is another.

Take, for example, pizza.

My wife and I had a Date Night last Friday. We went to a local pizza place, Blaze Pizza. If you're not familiar with the eatery, think of it as getting a personalized pizza in almost the same amount of time as it takes to get a burger at McDonald's or a sub at Subway. They have the process down and it's pretty slick.

The pizzas are not big--usually only big enough for a single meal. Me? No--there's no single meal for what I order. They have a build-your-own option, and I take full advantage. I get the thicker crust and load it up with all the meat topics they got. Throw in some veggies and I'm good. It's so thick, I can usually only eat about a third of the thing in one sitting. My math skills are not great, but even I know, that means I can get three meals out of this thing.

I was texting with a friend on Monday. I told him I was having leftover Blaze Pizza. He didn't know about Blaze. I explained who they were and the product. Then he said, "You can't beat the Hot-and-Ready Little Caesars Pizza Deal."

That's where I beg to differ.

I think you can.

I should be honest here. I haven't had a Little Caesar's Pizza in years. Personally, I like their pizzas, but food sensitivities have kept us from the restaurant. Their small pizza is 10" and the Blaze personal pizzas I think are 8". Because I get the thick crust it's a couple of dollars more so we're looking at a Blaze pizza around $10. I can get three meals out of that pizza. I don't know if the came could be said for the Hot-and-Ready option.

All of this doesn't really mean anything, really. My friend stops by his Little Caesar's place on the way home. He gets food for his family and they like it. I order my favorite pizza at a place that's local to us and I like it multiple times. As long as we're both happy, right?

If you haven't tried Blaze, I say give it a shot. But, if you do, the place is packed on the weekends--at least, ours is. That's usually a sign people like the food, and therefore, agree with me.

Photos From A Busy Saturday...

Yesterday was one of those days.

Busy.

Very busy.

Last night, after spending most of the day in a car or in a store or in my in-law's house, I sat down and chose a Pic Of The Day photo. I decided on a picture of a beautiful B-17 flying overhead, but it could have been something else, like a counter full of pizzas, a advertisement for sporks, or a bottle of flax oil--Super Lignan (whatever that is...).

It's amazing how many things you see on a busy day.

Saturday is the day of the week we buy groceries. Thanks to the incredible time in which we live, we order our groceries on-line, then just pick them up. It saves a lot of time. I don't know if I could have afforded the several hours it would have taken me to get the groceries myself. There was just too much to do.

Not only that, we also dropped off and picked up our daughter from dance. After dance and groceries, we ordered lunch and went to my in-laws because we had family in town from California. Always love hanging with the fam, catching up, and eating good food. That's a win-win-win in my book.

After leaving the mini family reunion, we rested, but not for long. Our daughter had a dance to go to at night--not a dance rehearsal like she did in the morning, but an event where she could put all that dance practice to good use. Driving home my wife remembered a wedding reception of a neighbor, so we changed and drove over. At last, after picking up my daughter from her dance (it was at the church where we saw the cry room which became yesterday's blog post topic...), I could finally sit down, write my blog post, select my Pic Of The Day and relax from the day that was.

I took several pictures--at one of the stores, at the in-laws, at the church, and at a plane while waiting at a red light. I could have taken pictures at several other stores, at the place where I picked up the pizzas, at the wedding reception, but I didn't. I guess I forgot. It's amazing how many things you see on a busy day.

Watching A Very Efficient Pizza Worker...

Tonight my wife and I had our first date night in several months. I had a weekend job in September and October which took away all our possible Friday and/or Saturday date night opportunities. There's lot of places to get dinner--more now near us than there have ever been--but we both decided pizza sounded great for tonight.

If you're not familiar with the fast food chain Blaze Pizza, you should check it out. They've perfected making personal pizzas in about as much time as it would take to get a value meal at a burger joint. We placed our order on-line then I drove down and waited for them to fire up our dinners.

Tonight--like most nights--the place was packed. I've been there many times when it's packed and I've seen the pizza cut and serve area a real mess. Most times this area has pizza after pizza waiting to be cut and served.

But not tonight. 

I don't know his name, but because I had to wait for our food to cook, I had nothing to do but watch this employee work. He was great, efficient, no wasted movements. He even used the pizza cutter to shave off the burned crusts around the pizza edge. It was actually cool to watch.

I know there's many videos on-line that show workers who know and do their jobs really well. My little video isn't all that spectacular, but as I waited it was nice to see an overworked and probably underpaid employee do a really good job.
