The signs went up earlier in the week. Yard And Bake Sale. We see them almost every weekend in the spring, summer, and sometimes fall. Today was the day and this morning was the time--an event to help a friend.
We moved into the neighborhood decades ago, back when the road leading to our house was still a dirt road. Over the years families moved in, and in order to move in, they had to build their own home, as did we.
Several of the families that moved in have stayed and over the years we've tried to help each other financially, spiritually, and in other ways, offering moral support. This morning I believe we tried to help in all those ways.
I heard once that everyone (with some exceptions, of course...) will at one time in their lives be in a position to help others. They will also be in a position to be helped. Today we were able to help. I have no idea what effect the actions of our family the many other families who volunteered and who shopped will have on our neighbor. I do know I felt good helping out. May God bless Emme and her family.
