I wonder, when she left her home or apartment or car, did she weight the options of "should I take gargantuan umbrella or leave it at home or in the closet or the hall or the back seat?"
The red and white overhead--does it keep out the sun or hold in the fear? Fear of the deadly rays (what some call deadly others call life-fulfilling, life sustaining...). An enigma held above.
She walks past others, those without their own personal shade, until they too can go home or to work or to their car and find refuge from the sun.
