Getting Back Into Shape...

"So, you want to run Ragnar with us?" my friend asked me last week. I paused before responding. I keep seeing those funky Ragnar stickers on a lot of cars as I drive about. You've seen them--they look like this:

The race is something I've always wanted to do. So many Facebook friends run it at various locations and they gush and praise the event (funny, not many mention the pain they must experience...).

The last time I was really in shape was when I was in Rodger's Memorial Theater's production of "Joseph, and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." I was Rueben, the wisest and baldest of all the brothers. It was an amazing experience, but a side effect of doing the show was how much the director and choreographer pushed us. In 3 months I lost 20 lbs. I was in shape.

I turned to my friend and said, "Yes!" And so, the training begins. On my first day on a track (at Layton High School, to be specific--thanks Davis High for putting in a new track so I can't run there--kind of like when I was on the track team...). On Layton's track I ran a few miles and didn't realize one toenail was digging into it's neighboring toe. The proof was on the sock.

Getting in shape is something I really need to do considering I set at a desk 40 hours a week. I've got 2 weeks to get ready. Let's do this!
