See The Beard? Neither Do I...

Many years ago I worked as a stuntman for a Wild West Show...yes, it's true.

So what does me being a stuntman have to do with me trying to grow a beard?

Good question...

Back when I was a stuntman, it was the first time I actually tried to grow a beard or a mustache. I failed at both. I stopped shaving for about six weeks...I could have let it grow for six years, it probably wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Many of my friends think I'm the luckiest guy in world. I shave usually once a week. I use the razor so infrequently that I hardly ever need to buy a new razor (I can't remember the last time I bought replacement blades...).

Yes, I admit, I am lucky. Shaving is a pain, but even though I don't have to shave everyday it would be nice to have the option of growing a beard, or a mustache or a goatee. Especially since I'm bald, changing my "look" would be nice. Sometimes I'd just like to have options.

Last week I got an e-mail from the stage manager of the play we're doing this Christmas. In the e-mail she asked the men in the cast not to shave so the director can have some options on how we look. It makes sense. I'm giving the beard one more try. This time, I don't expect my beard to grow any more than usual, but I've got a plan. Time will tell if it will work.

My wife has never seen her brother-in-law without a beard, and she's never seen me with one. I'm trying again because there just might be a chance this time. To quote Lloyd Christmas, "So, you're telling me there's a chance..."
