Yesterday some guys showed up at my cubicle and informed me my standing desk had arrived. A few weeks ago a specialist came to my work and we decided what kind of standing desk I should have. The whole reason for the accessories was some back issues and my chiropractor recommended I get the desk.
I've used it for two days, spent a few hours each day standing and working. I must say I'm impressed with the difference. Here's the before picture of how my work station looked.
Here's what it looks like now.
Something strange happened after I was approved for the desk. I started noticing several other standing desks on the floor. That part isn't necessarily strange, but what I realized is that at no time have I ever seen those desks raised up.
I wondered if they are ever raised. Maybe whatever condition they had causing them to get their desks have improved and they no longer need to raise the desks. Or maybe they raise them all the time and I'm just not around to see it.
Yeah, I'll go with that.
Today I stood for 2 1/2 hours of my shift. I did more standing in the morning than the afternoon. I hope to do at least that much everyday. And I even took a piece of exercise equipment we had lying around the house. I don't know if I'll end up using that, but--like the standing desk--I like having the option.
