A Yard In Which To Play...

The Yard...

We have a weird shaped yard. It's a corner lot on a dead-end cul-de-sac (cul-de-sac meaning literally "bottom of the bag" in French according to Wikipedia). We chose the lot for a lot of reasons--mostly the view. A few evenings ago the kids wanted to play outside.

We have a section on the south end where we planted grass. We planted this from seed and so far, it's been able to remain alive. When I was a kid I played in this same area. Of course, there was no grass--only weeds and these trees that still continue to pop up even after multiple attempts at tree eradication.

We've planted fruit trees, some shade trees and some strawberry plants on the small rock wall my cousin's husband built for us when we moved in. Zach did a great job and I sure miss him. I know I complain (a lot...) about the work that's required to keep up yard, but when I see my son and daughter playing soccer while another son tries his hand at jump roping, it's almost worth it...almost ;)

  1. It was fun to see the kids playing in the yard. Lawns are truely worth the work I think.
